Harrisburg Plastic Surgery Practice Celebrates Three Year Anniversary

In 2007, Stratis-Gayner Plastic Surgery was formed based on the concept of combining a body-focused surgeon with a face-focused surgeon. Three years later, the practice (the first of its kind in Pennsylvania) is a model for other surgeons to follow.

"I read an article about a new kind of practice, one that combined a face specialist with a body specialist," explains Dr. Stratis, a board-certified plastic surgeon. "It was an idea that seemed to me to hold great potential for improving patient care, even though there weren't many people doing it yet. And it occurred to me that we didn't have any practices like that in the entire state of Pennsylvania. I couldn't stop thinking about it."
When, after careful consideration, body-focused Dr. Stratis decided to try the idea for himself, he knew that he needed a very special surgeon to be his face-focused counterpart. He found what he was looking for in Dr. Scott Gayner, a board-certified facial plastic surgeon. Dr. Gayner possessed the qualifications Dr. Stratis was looking for, qualities that Dr. Stratis himself shared: impressive credentials, years of experience, artistic sensibilities, innate skill, and a positive attitude toward his peers and his patients.
"I was thrilled that Dr. Stratis invited me to join him on this journey," says Dr. Gayner. "The idea of providing a patient with a full range of cosmetic services from head to toe is exciting. And over the past three years, I have definitely seen the benefits for my patients."
The benefits of a practice with specialized surgeons are many:
A patient considering a single procedure (a breast enlargement in Harrisburg, for example) will benefit because both doctors are specialists in their respective area of medicine.
A patient considering several procedures for both face and body will benefit because their procedures can be performed at one time, with Drs. Stratis and Gayner working together. For the patient, this means less time under anesthesia for a quicker recovery and less risk.
"When one of my body contouring or breast enhancement patients is also considering a facial procedure, I can just call in Dr. Gayner and we meet with them together," explains Dr. Stratis. "This way, they don't have to wait for another appointment or worry that I might not be on the same page as their other specialist. Dr. Gayner and I are a team, so there's always open communication and collaboration."
In the three years since their doors opened on January 1, 2007, the positive buzz about the surgeons and their unique practice has drawn people from many areas outside Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. For a face lift, breast augmentation, tummy tuck, or other procedure, people have discovered the many benefits of specialized surgeons.
"These three years have flown by," says Dr. Gayner. "I'm proud of what we've been able to achieve; but, honestly, I'm thinking more about what we can still accomplish, new ways we can improve patient care. I think that, with our specialized approach, Dr. Stratis and I will continue to grow as surgeons and as a practice. "
